One Last Shot at Bannishing Blogspot
I am attempting to banish my blogspot version of Canadian Financial Opinions from the Google Index.
First I added the all important META tag into the header for the site
meta name=”robots” content=”noindex, nofollow”
That should stop the Googlebot from wandering through the site and getting any data on the content that is in there. How long stuff [...]
New Icon Idea
So I tried the “Buy Me a Beer” plug in which didn’t do any bloody good to me. I then had the bright idea, that I am begging with the wrong tag line, so I fiddled around with the plug in and came up with this instead:
Help Send My Kids to University
In 4 [...]
Back to Zero
Fricking Google strikes again and Canadian Financial Opinions is back to Zero page ranking, yet Text Link Ads has sold 7 ads on the page and I keep getting nutty Pay Day Loan Ad requests as well. I have sent yet another request to be reconsidered, but that is a futile attempt.
Traffic continues to be [...]
Globe and Mail, Indeed!
So the Globe and Mail has a poll on about the Best Financial Bloggers in Canada (or Top 5) list and I note that I am not mentioned, yet again. Canadian Financial Opinions may not be a classic financial blog, but at least it is not some “get rich quick” stock picking web site or [...]
Added PepperJamAds Today
Looking for another source of income for the Canadian Financial Opinions, I have added PepperJam Network which seems to be much like Adsense, with a few twists on things. Not sure it will add a lot of income, but it is another source. TexlinkAds continues to be my major source of income for this year, [...]
Page Rank Back to Three
So I guess my appeal to Google worked out, because now Canadian Financial Opinions Page Rank has returned to 3/10 (which is actually higher than it was before I moved the site to Dreamhost, so that is kind of cool too). With my current Alexa ranking this puts the web site back to where it [...]
Alexa Rank Change
My Alexa rank dropped (i.e. got bigger) a couple of days back, but this article from John Chow explains why , not that it really changed that much, just interesting to watch and see how things change.
Tried out another video link in my Random Thoughts posting for Friday, see if that causes any buzz. Cool [...]
Readership Growing Again
Getting back near 300 for RSS feed readers at Canadian Financial Opinions, which is good to see. No real sign of the page rank changing, but I did send in an appeal e-mail asking for them to reconsider or re-look at what my rank actually is.
Given I am now running Wordpress 2.5, I am starting [...]
Favicon How Hard Could That Be
I have constantly admired the REAL bloggers out there who figured out how to update their Favicon ICON to not just be a piece of paper or that Blogger B, and I wondered if I could figure out how to do this.
To do it is simple, the code you put in your header is:link rel=”shortcut [...]
Please Reconsider My Page Rank Mr. Google?
Found a really good article talking about a way to have Google reconsider your site’s Page Rank (in Blog about Your Blog ) . Simply go into the Google analytics interface and ask for your site to be reconsidered, and make sure you put a compelling explanation in place about it. I did so, so [...]
