Yes, it seems that a mention in the Globe and Mail in their Vote: The Best Financial Blogs, survey and my stats went sky high. I keep mentioning it like in Vote For Me and I’ll Set You Free, and posts like that.

Because of this increase (over 1100 for Wednesday last week), I have folks asking me to link to them, and even more interesting, I am getting inquiries about advertising which makes me a happy blogger too.

I have made more this past week than I did the past month, which is great.

So both Performancing and Kontera on my watch, since I have not seen dime 1 from them, even with their claims of income, and they may fall off the roof if I don’t see moneys from them soon.

Overall a very good month with readership up a great deal and income levels up very nicely as well, not sure what exactly is causing this, but hopefully this will continue.

I note none of NeverBlueAds, TTZ, PepperJam and MarketLeverage have made me any money, and they are “on the roof” in the new year in terms of space on my site. Performancing is doing OK, but I still haven’t seen any real cash from them or Kontera, so I will believe that when the money appears.

How to Add Amazon Associates Ads to Your WordPress Blog {Part 2}

Yesterday I showed what you need to do to include an Amazon Associates text link advertising link into your WordPress article, and you ended up with this: Hellboy (Special Edition, 2 discs)

What if you want some spiffy pictures instead (like the one on the side here)?. This article will outline the obtuse steps that you need to take to do this.

Remember the fancy IFRAME version of the advertising from Amazon is completely out, because WordPress thinks it is a security issue, so you can’t do that.

The steps you need to take are like before:

1. Log in to your Amazon Associates account
2. Select Build Link/Widgets
3. Select Classic Links
4. Select Product Links
5. In the Example I had it search DVD for Hellboy
6. This time select IMAGE ONLY for your link (to make it look like the picture on this page).
7. You highlight the HTML like before and copy it over to your WordPress page as usual:

8. However, now you have a problem, the picture reference in the first IMG tag (src=”51ksuxW%2BPcL._SL160_.jpg” mce_src=”51ksuxW%2BPcL._SL160_.jpg”) is relative to the Amazon web page, and you must now replace that with a fully instantiated web address
9. To find out the images real address, right click on the same page and choose “Copy Image Location” and copy it into the above code, so now it looks like:

10. Problem solved (kind of), I’d rather have the slick IFRAME code work, but the picture works for me too.

This has been posted all over the place, but it is of interest to me for a few reasons. Paula Mooney posted a list of what folks are making from the Internet which was interesting to me to see that someone claims to be making money on this business, but again, it seems you need to have a very large reader base to even dream of making enough money to make this whole idea “an interesting side light”. I was thinking of reporting my whopping $200 earned last year, but figured I’d be too embarrassed to admit that on a list of folks like that.

I’d dearly like to be making a bloody fortune, but unless I plan on joining the Internet Porn world (which I also suspect doesn’t make as much money, for the amount you have to put out for it), or go Phishing (and since I don’t live in Nigeria, I think that would be very bad form), I am going to have to plod along with my minuscule income for now.

Still, learning more and more about Soap, XML and WordPress, so my guess is maybe I’ll become a consultant and make my fortune that way (telling people to do things, that you know they’ll never do . –C8j
