Income Better But Not Great

This seems to be a continuing complaint by me, that the income for Canadian Financial Opinions is really not what I was hoping it might be after 5 years of writing, but I continue to try new ideas to see if that might help push income to a less slave level and more to a not bad paying hobby level.

At the end of it my TextLinkAds income seems to be the most reliable, with Adsense about 1/2 of that income and then no real income from any other sites, although Amazon does create a little income here and there.

I am also continuing to test posting by e-mail as well, which works OK, but it does have a few interesting issues, that I am learning about.

• Adsense income $60.44 with about 16000 impressions (including RSS)
• Kontera income $3.78 on 7,528 page impressions
• TextLinkAds income $56.61 earn with 8 ads running out of a possible 8 (text link ads)
• Performancing Ads $00.00 from 0 advertiser
• Pepper Jam Ads income $0.00
• NeverBlueAds income $0.00
• TTZ Media income $0.00

• ReviewMe review income $0.00

Total income for the month of February 2009: $140 (up a little)

Number of RSSReaders from Feedburner: 470 (avg) (same) but this number is complete fiction as well, since I can see more readers, yet my numbers remain down.

Text Link Ads return as pretty much my major income earner, my guess is this month I will revamp the web site and I will be remedying some of these situations. 

Still working for slave wages.

• Kontera income $8.46  on 8735 page impressions
• TextLinkAds income $37.06 earn with 5 ads running out of a possible 8 (text link ads)
• Performancing Ads $39.00 from 2 advertiser
• Pepper Jam Ads income $0.00
• NeverBlueAds income $0.00
• TTZ Media income $0.00

• ReviewMe review income $0.00
• Pay Per Post income $0.00

So both Performancing and Kontera on my watch, since I have not seen dime 1 from them, even with their claims of income, and they may fall off the roof if I don’t see moneys from them soon.

Overall a very good month with readership up a great deal and income levels up very nicely as well, not sure what exactly is causing this, but hopefully this will continue.

Approaching only slave wages again of $100 a month, might pay for my coffee

I note none of NeverBlueAds, TTZ, PepperJam and MarketLeverage have made me any money, and they are “on the roof” in the new year in terms of space on my site. Performancing is doing OK, but I still haven’t seen any real cash from them or Kontera, so I will believe that when the money appears.

So last week, I had an inquiry about putting a link on my web page, from a UK advertiser, I quoted my current rates, it was paid, no fuss, no muss, no bother, and the link is now on my Financial web site. 

Yesterday I got another e-mail asking about rates, I see it is a debt place in the states, so I send the exact same rates to this guy, and I get back a scathing commentary of “how dare I charge so much for advertising”? Um, I didn’t call you, you called me, and commenting that my rates are too high is fine, simply don’t pay them, since I have 1 advertiser, I guess my rates are competitive?

Kontera Income

Had a query about how much I make with Kontera, and for me I actually make about 5% of what I make with Adsense with Kontera on all my web sites. I must say I have never seen ANY income from Kontera as of yet, whereas I have seen cheques from: Adsense, TextLinkAds and ReviewMe. I also have income from direct advertisers as well. I will publish a report soon on how much I make on which advertisers.

Text Link Ads for some reason doesn’t seem to want to update their Alexa ranking for a site, but give you the option to hit a “refresh” button which resets the value to your latest Alexa ranking, which is interesting. I updated it, and got back another advertiser, so now 7/8 TLA slots are now filled for my site again, which is good, more income and more money for me.

Payperpost has another oddity in that it does not seem to have my new Google Pagerank of 2/10 and thus I am ineligible for most of their opportunities (except for the cheapest and least topical posts). I have sent them a flame-o-gram asking them what they are playing at, we shall see what the answer to that one is.

Income continues to be slow-ish but constant too, which is better than nothing for now.

Interesting, that I got an inquiry from the U.K. about a text ad for Canadian Personal Financial Opinions, and they were willing to pay for a 6 month contract. I don’t get a lot of traffic from the U.K., but that doesn’t seem to bother them, and the link seems to be to a genuine insurance company, so I am curious as to why they chose my site, but I am also not looking a gift horse in the mouth either. 

Went to Text Link Ads and noticed that it doesn’t seem to update info about sites, like their Alexa ranking, which was in the 600K range, but is now down in the low 400K range, so I have updated that as well, maybe that will bring me a little more money too.

The ReviewMe ad for Tn Visa Expert has also paid out, which will double my income for this month, which is great too. Need to look for more of those opportunities.

I am bewildered and confused by Google’s alleged Page Ranking System. My family blog which is not known has a page rank of 1, yet my finance blog which is all over the search engines, has a page rank of Zero (0/10), I just do not get it. I continue to get more links and more comments, yet my page’s alleged rank does not increase ever.

Any hints from anyone?

Twice I have had the blogspot “editor” go wonky on me, and the first time I lost my posting, the second time, I was careful enough to log into my blogspot account using IE and making sure that my posting had been saved before moving forward, so I didn’t lose anything the second time. Very annoying, I will have to look into that a bit more! It does seem to only happen if I use Firefox as my browser.

TextLinkAds was one of the reasons that I changed to the new Blogger format (they didn’t support the older version of the software), yet I see nothing on my blog from them as of yet, which is disappointing.

Still only 5% of my traffic is coming from search engines (at least that is what the new Google Analytics says), interesting, but I don’t know what “normal” is these days either, anyone care to comment, I’d be glad to learn. I was impressed to see a great many of my readers use Firefox, good for you!
