So I am really not sure what this will actually do, but here is an adsense video player test to see how it might work on my web site.
The important part of all of this would be to make sure that the video player appears stand a lone on the page.

I wonder what kind of content I might get from it?

I have been investigating video and how best to download it and what makes for easy input and such and have found some very interesting issues that arise.

All of the video I have been trying so far has been personal stuff for my personal blog, to show my parents the kids and such, so I have used as devices:

• Treo 650 cell phone/camera (low quality but easy to use)
• Canon Sureshot A60 (Better quality for a still camera, but still only 15 frames per sec)
• Tried a friends higher end Canon camera (very impressive)

All of them do an ok job, but I was really impressed with the higher end Canon’s ability to do 30 frames per second and do 640×480 video.

What is interesting is when I download this to YouTube the quality is quite poor on viewing, even with the higher quality device, so I am definitely not using the right software to prepare the video for YouTube.

I did download the best quality to Facebook for their video and it looked great, not as good quality as the original video but quite good. I downloaded the same thing to YouTube and it looked quite bad, couldn’t see my son’s face or make out much.

I bought Quicktime Pro and I own DivX encoders as well, but using either does not seem to help with YouTube’s quality issues, so I will need to investigate this more, since it is something that intrigues me, and it actually has something to do with my current job too, so it is fun!

John Chow comes through again, even though the video I put up on my blog was actually from the Onion, my post Cheaper Day Care Alternatives has a great video (and very funny). What is even funnier is that I had a raft of dual income parents post about my postings about how the Government Tax system is skewed toward dual income families, complain that I never took the high price of daycare into the equation, I think I have now (and I am still chuckling about it). John may be an evil guy, but he sure helps out with content some times.

The numbers keep coming, which is interesting, since I really have no idea as to why I have such a surge in RSS readers, but let’s just keep hoping and praying for a breakthrough again.

Was contacted by someone in the legitimate media asking for some information, which also made my day, since it seems I am now a “resource” to speak to about financial issues (well someone thinks that, whether that is the case).

It might be time to lean on your accumulated body of work. This summer looks to be kind of busy and I need to figure out how things will work with a new job and such, but I keep forgetting that I have an entire body of over 500 posts that I can easily republish on days when I can’t think of any kind of topic to talk about for the day.

Think I need to plan for a week ahead as well. All well and good, but who knows as well.

Video Blogging on the family blog site is fun, with the exception that I keep having to resubmit video content sent from my work account, which is odd, need to investigate that further.

I am starting to get the hang of this whole video thing, but now I need to actually think about what I am trying to capture with my phone/camera. Currently my personal blog is filled with short clips of my son doing various odd things, which makes me much like the parent who invites friends over to watch ENDLESS home movies of their kids (but at least with the blog, you can ignore it).

Canadians as a whole their debt as a percentage of their net worth is decreasing, but that seems to be due to their assets increasing in value, not due to a nationwide debt reduction strategy.

Only one so far. My friend at Canadian Capitalist has hooked me up nicely and work can begin this weekend in earnest attempting to get my site moved onto it’s own hosting site! Should be a lot of fun.

So adding video to your blog is pretty simple, if you are using Blogspot, since YouTube and it are hooked together (in ownership by Google too).

I always worried that I was using non-authorized content, but creating your own is dead simple if you have the right tools.

This astounding piece of cinematography was done using a Treo 650 and it’s built in camera phone. Here is all you need to do to make this same kind of awe inspiring content.

• Get a cell phone with a camera
• Create a YouTube account for yourself, this is important, although there are other sites that can do this as well (Facebook, etc.,)
• After your account is created find the e-mail address that YouTube has set up for you to send movies to and put that on your camera’s “Contact” information
• Make an amazing movie, just like this
• Mail the movie to YouTube
• After about 2 minutes or so, check YouTube, your movie is there, and you can now post it on your Blog

That’s it! Now my apologies, that I did not have any French Maids on the video to show you how to do this, so here is their version of photo sharing, instead!

So Kontera is now turned on for this specific blog, which is cool by me. Kontera may not make me tons of money, but it seems quite steady income, which is ok by me as well. I had just put the same code on this page as with the Financial web site, but I guess they just ignored that, which is unfortunate, so now I can make money here as well.

Overall, not a bad week for adsense income. I found an interesting web site called TED which is sort of an intellectual site, and found a very interesting video about how too many choices stifle our collective ability to think and choose, so I posted it on the finance site under Final Financial Decisions , and will see whether it is enjoyed or not. I liked it, but then again, I am a bit of an egg head when it comes to those kind of talks too.

Can I keep up the pace for posting over the summer is my next question. Maybe I need to plan out July and August’s postings and then my job is that much easier. I think this is the same problem cartoonists have, and every time I have seen one of them talk, they talk about the value of getting ahead of yourself, but that is kind of hard when it comes to financial discussions. Also need to see how I can automate postings, just in case I do figure out how to do this. Any ideas would be appreciated.

As usual the Family Guy always puts things in the correct context.
