Funny how the Social Network scene has changed over the years. The only one I recognize here is Twitter.
So I am now making an attempt to get more of my writing into the social media sites and see if this helps out any.
I have found that Stumbleupon does actually bring a fairly regular number of readers according to google analytics, but I am not sure about the rest of the regular culprits:
- Digg seems to be interesting, but I am not too sure how much traffic actually comes from there, and I have yet to get past about 15 diggs.
- Yahoo Buzz? Who knows about that one, I add things there assuming that it helps the Yahoo Search ‘bots to find their way to my posts?
- Google Buzz? Again, not much coming from here either, and not a lot of folks seem to care about this too much.
- OldDogg, is an interesting one, I am not sure about it, but it is supposed to be quite good.
- Tip’d? Getting nothing much of interest from there but I attempt to keep going with that one.
- Twitter? I hope it is bringing something, it is allowing me to expose some of my older work that is for sure.
- Zoomit.ca seems interesting, but again, I really am not sure about how much traffic might come from here either.
Reddit seems to have locked me out for some reason, so I don’t even try to use it any more.
I am using Digg Digg as a WordPress plug-in to help folks easily “push” my stories as well.
Social Network Revisited
Since I wrote this the entire face of things has changed.
- Facebook is the true Social Media Network
- Twitter continues on Happily
- Linked-in has some traction in spots
- Tumblr is still around but is it relevant?
- Reddit is a center of information good and bad, but I never quite got the hang of it.
We are in the same boat with social networking. Stumble upon seems to be the best, but then again, that is hit or miss for me as well. It hasn’t been until I have started networking with others that are trying much of the same that I have seen any results at all. guess we just have to keep pushing forward with the attempts and something will work out…hopefully.
Never tried Old Dogg, but will give it a shot. Doesn’t hurt too much.
Have you ever tried Social Marker for bookmarking your stuff. I do it through them sometimes, but mostly I just go through the actual sites. Honestly I forget about social marker.
As for Reddit, it seems to be the most fickle out of all of the social book marking sites. But they haven’t locked me out. I just don’t see any results from them either.
Tip’d is a social network for financial news, not so much “make money online” news. Please read our guidelines and submit topical articles; you might find your submissions gaining more traction as a result. http://tipd.com/guidelines
Also, it helps to give back to the community. Just submitting your content as a “set it and forget it strategy” is not going to benefit you. You need to build relationships with the users of these “social networks,” because, after all, it’s a “social” network.
